It is only the second time since the Football League was formed that as many as three clubs have withdrawn from the competition as late as the 3rd Qualifying Round in the same season. The only other time it happened was in the Football League’s debut season, 1888/89.

Skelmersdale United and Marske United are the last two clubs still in the competition that began their campaign in the Extra Preliminary Round.
