The second annual FACupFactfile Team Awards (FACTA) winners have been announced. These awards were set up to recognise the positive contribution Non-League clubs make to the world’s greatest football knock-out competition; The FA Cup.
The FACTA nominees are proposed by and voted on by fans of Non-League football and the FA Cup. Almost 5,000 votes were cast across the five FACTA categories of Special Team Award, Surprise of the Cup, Performance of the Cup, Team of the Cup and, introduced this year, Friend of Non-League. That’s a threefold vote increase on last year, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who got involved, who nominated and voted, and who encouraged others to get involved, too.
Votes were cast via comments left on the FACupFactfile Blog site, by Tweets naming team and the award, and via five repeated Twitter polls.
And the five FACTA 2016/17 winners are:

Congratulations to Oxford United, a terrific gesture to recognise that the perceived value of their share of the FA Cup gate receipts was worth far more to their Non-League hosts than to themselves.

Congratulations to everyone involved with the club.
Once again, ‘thank you’ to everyone who took the time to vote in this year’s FACTAs, congratulations to all five winners, commiserations to all the other nominees who had achieved so much, and well done to all Non-League clubs who make the FA Cup the fantastic, unique and special competition that it is. And with five Non-League clubs still standing in Round Three, it isn’t over yet.
Here’s to another wonderful FA Cup competition beginning in August 2017.
